Food parcels given to South Yorkshire needy

Have your say

MORE than 40 food parcels are being handed out to desperate South Yorkshire families every week.

Goldthorpe Salvation Army says it is distributing the items at a food bank every Monday handing out meat, vegetables, pasta, fruit and bread donated by local people and churches.

The food bank, at the organisation’s headquarters in Straight Lane, is open to all and takes place on Mondays at 1pm.

Meanwhile, a community project co-ordinator in Sheffield will be attending the Northern Community Assembly meeting tonight to talk about its work – which also includes a food bank.

Maureen Greaves, the coordinator of the St Saviour’s Community Project, High Green, will be at Grenoside Primary School, Norfolk Hill, Grenoside, from 7pm.
