A NORTH Derbyshire village’s annual Festival of Food this weekend is set for stardom on the nation’s TV screens.
The event in Tideswell tomorrow will be filmed for a new BBC One series presented by Sarah Beeny later this summer.
Organisers are hoping for a bumper turnout at the event, celebrating the variety and quality of local produce.
The village is one of six to win a grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Village SOS project and all are being filmed for the BBC show.
Footage from the food festival will chart the progress of the £400,000 Taste Tideswell project, which aims to boost the local food economy.
“We’ll be celebrating the food and drink of Tideswell and the achievements of the project, highlighting the village and its food to locals and visitors alike,” said village champion Tim Nicol.
Running from 10am until 4pm, events include food stalls, a beer festival, cookery demonstrations and tours of Tideswell School of Food.
