A FOUR-day flower festival paying tribute to the world of music raised more than £5,000.
The money raised at Ashover Flower Festival, near Chesterfield, will be donated to the village’s old parish church and Ashgate Hospice.
The theme was Thank You for the Music, chosen to mark the contribution to community life of the classical music concerts staged in Ashover over the past 30 years.
The festival included a scarecrow trail around the village centre, organised by Claire Bonsall and Jenny Hammond, and an exhibition by Ashover Art Group.
The church bells also rang out for the first time since April, when the ringing room was closed for major repairs to the church spire and tower.
A Songs of Praise service included hymns, prayers, readings, and music from Ashover Celebration Choir.
