RAISING money for the Aurora Centre is a real family affair for the Knights of Dunscroft.

Coun Pat Knight, ward member for Hatfield, and her husband Ken, have presented a cheque for £3,000 to the Civic Mayor’s nominated charity after an open garden event at their home in Broadway, which raised £720.

The couple’s daughter, Emma Davies, joined in the fun by baking cupcakes iced with the Aurora logo to further boost the total.

The rest of the generous contribution to the Aurora Centre, which cares for local people with cancer and their families, was raised while retired councillor Ken was in the role of Civic Mayor earlier this year.

“This local charity is very close to my heart, as I know from personal experience the devastating impact of a family member being diagnosed with cancer, having lost my father to bowel cancer a couple of years ago,” said Mrs Knight.

“The Aurora Centre does so much to help people at a time of real need.”
