Behind bars! Two Sheffield fundraisers took part in a ‘jailbreak’ raising more than £5,000 for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

The aim was to travel as far from Sheffield as possible in 48 hours, but they were not allowed to spend any money.

Jen Hanley, aged 36, from Mosborough, and Cat King, 26, from Whirlow, made it to Dalaman, Turkey with the help of Thomson and First Choice travel agents, who supplied flights and accommodation.

They travelled 1,822 miles, raising money via donations, sponsorship and bucket-rattling.

They blagged lifts and free bus trips, flights and accommodation.

Cat said: “Jen and I had lots of fun but we simply could not have got so far and raised so much if it hadn’t been for so many generous and helpful people - most of all Thomson and First Choice.

“We are immensely grateful to everyone who supported us.”

Natalie Bishop, manager of the Handsworth Road First Choice shop, said: “Thomson and First Choice are so proud to have supported Jen and Cat in this challenge and to see the amount raised so far is really awe-inspiring.”
