Five Sheffield DJs to play tracks for 24 hours to raise cash

Five Sheffield DJs are to take part in a 24-hour DJ marathon.

Will Russ, James Drain, Rob Abbot, Lucas Edwards and Mark Akid will be playing tracks for 24 hours to raise money to help organisers stage the Peace in the Park festival in Sheffield for free.

Money will also be donated to the Friends of the Himalayan Children’s Care Home in Nepal.

The DJ set will be streamed live from online radio station UK Mondo from 6pm on Tuesday, May 10 until 6pm the following day.

DJ Will Russ said: “As a trustee of FOHCCH, fundraising to help support children from very remote areas to have some of the same opportunities that we enjoy here is very important to me and the difference a small amount can make is huge.

“Just £350 can educate, clothe and feed one child for a year.

“We also chose to donate to Peace in the Park firstly because it shares the same values of community action and helping each other whether that be locally or globally but also because of the musical and celebratory nature of the event. Free and inclusive community festivals hard to come by so we must support them so everybody can enjoy them.”
