Police have stepped up patrols around a Doncaster pond after reports of fish being stolen from the water.

Officers have stepped up patrols at Brick Ponds in Edlington after residents reported that fish were being caught and then taken away, rather than being put back into the water.

There were further reports of anti-social behaviour caused by congregating gangs.

Officers from the Edlington Safer Neighbourhood Team have been checking visitors’ fishing licences at the site as part of their enquiries.

The Friends of Edlington Lake have also been assisting in overseeing the welfare of the site, and have carried out a clean-up day to move rubbish and other debris.

Anyone with information about crime incidents should contact police on 101.

Elsewhere, residents with crime concerns in the Hyde Park and Belle Vue area are invited to raise concerns with police at a public meeting. It will take place at the DEMRP Building, Carr House Road, Hyde Park, on October 1 at 6.30pm.
