A TEENAGE recruit has sailed through training and is about to embark on her first posting with the Royal Navy.

Hannah Bennett, aged 19, a former student at Henry Fanshawe School in Dronfield and Chesterfield College, will put skills she has learned into practice at HM Naval Base Clyde in Faslane, Scotland.

She completed her nine weeks’ basic training in February and has since been learning the ropes at the Defence Maritime Logistics School at HMS Raleigh in Cornwall.

She learnt the Navy’s personnel administration procedures, including records maintenance, accounting and management of pay and allowances - allowing her to take on a range of responsibilities at sea and ashore.

Hannah said: “It’s been my lifelong dream to join the Navy. I want to make a difference and to serve Queen and country.

“To pass such a challenging course, with such a great team of people around me, makes me feel very proud. I’m really pleased I have been given such a fantastic draft to Faslane for my first job.”
