Sheffield has won praise for the second time in a month for investing in its young people.
Firms from across the city, along with a business boss dedicated to training young talent, have been shortlisted for the regional finals of this year’s National Apprenticeship Awards.
Resolve IT Solutions, based in Little London Road, is up for medium employer of the year, going head to head with High Green dental practice and Michael and Margaret Naylor and Associates.
Representing the city in the large employer of the year category is Tata Steel.
Lee Firth, professional development manager at NG Bailey in Rutland Road, is in the running for the Apprentice Champion of the Year honour.
The news follows on from a report from the national Smith Institute on council-backed apprenticeship schemes, which singled out Sheffield Council’s 100 Apprenticeships scheme.
Sue Price, area director for the National Apprenticeship Service in the north of England, said: “We always receive entries of outstanding calibre in our region, and this year has been no exception.
“I would like to congratulate all the employers and apprentices.”
The ceremony takes place in Birmingham on November 14.
