FIREFIGHTERS spent hours battling three woodland and moorland fires found raging in South Yorkshire within hours of one another.
Two of the blazes broke out in Grenoside Woods, Sheffield, and the third was at Snowden Hill, Oxspring.
The first fire was reported to crews at 9.10am on Wednesday and involved trees in a 300m by 300m area of land off Sandy Lane.
The second fire in Grenoside Woods was discovered at 10.45am on land off Woodhead Road.
Fire crews spent the longest time dealing with a 150 metre square area of moorland found blazing off Pond Common Lane, Snowden Hill, at 12.20pm.
They remained at the scene for almost eight hours, until 8pm, after experiencing difficulties getting water to the flames.
