Firefighters are urging children not to spend their summer holidays starting fires, warning that tying up crews’ time puts lives at risk.
The South Yorkshire fire service has dealt with a number of arson attacks involving grass and rubbish over recent weeks.
On Tuesday a field was set alight on Car Vale Drive, Richmond, Sheffield.
A spokesman said: “In hot weather the risk of a fire starting and getting out of control is really high. If you spot someone starting fires, contact Crimestoppers.”
