South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue has won high praise from top assessors as part of a nationally recognised appraisal process.
The fire service was inspected by senior figures from other fire services as part of a peer review process.
It was described as ‘reliable, informed, professional and receptive to new ways of working’.
Chief Fire Officer James Courtney, said: “Our staff are rightly proud of the work they do, but it’s always pleasing when people from outside of the organisation come in and comment on the positive contributions we are making to the lives of the communities we serve.
“The overwhelmingly positive feedback in this report gives me great reassurance as we prepare to meet our future challenges.”
