Fire service in plea to drivers

FIRE chiefs are urging drivers to take extra care on the roads, as nights become darker and the weather worsens.

The warning comes after the clocks went back, meaning South Yorkshire drivers will be making their daily commute in the dark.

Firefighters traditionally sees a rise in collisions during autumn and winter.

Diane Malpass, of South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, said: “Safe driving is mostly common sense, so since the clock change and now autumn has arrived, we are calling on drivers to think about the conditions and think about other road users.”
