A SCHEME set up to help South Yorkshire Fire Service deal with redundancy has won an award.

The Peer Mentor programme was put in place by fire brigade chiefs when the service announced a massive restructure of its support staff teams to cope with reductions in Government funding over the next four years. The scheme won the Outstanding Contribution to Workforce Development category at the Yorkshire and Humber Making a Difference awards.
