THE chairman of South Yorkshire Fire Authority has paid tribute to former Doncaster Councillor Ken Knight for his work on the authority.

Ken Knight, who has been a civic mayor of Doncaster, also stepped down as the Doncaster councillor for the Hatfield ward at the election.

He joined the fire authority in June 2006.

His roles with the organisation during that time included chairing the audit committee.

Fire authority chairman Jim Andrews said: “Ken was an extremely committed and hard-working member of the fire authority.

“His leadership and political experience was valued and his contribution was significant.

“There is no doubt he will be sadly missed, but we wish him all the very best for a long and happy retirement.”
