Firefighters were called to a fish and chip shop in Moorends, Doncaster, in the early hours of yesterday after people living above the premises reported the smell of smoke.

The fire crews sent to the premises in Masrhland Road at 2.15am found a pan had been left on a hob.

The alarm was raised by tenants of a flat above the shop but they were not harmed.
