FIRE chiefs in South Yorkshire have met a Euro MP to discuss flooding issues across the county.
They met Rebecca Taylor, Lib Dem MEP for Yorkshire, after she asked them what they believe needs to be done to prevent or minimise the impact of floods
She also asked for their input on a European Union proposal for better disaster cooperation among EU countries.
The proposal would mean the UK would be better able to call on the assistance of other EU countries when needed.
She said: “I saw the devastating impact of the flooding on many residents this summer and want to see action at all levels to prevent floods or minimise their impact in the future. I was pleased to hear from the fire service what ideas they had.”
