CHILDREN got a taste of life in the emergency services at a fun day hosted by the police.
The annual community activities day was held at the South Yorkshire Police Sports and Social Club in Wadsley Bridge, and featured football coaching, stalls and fairground rides.
The fire brigade also pitched up, giving demonstrations showing how they tackle fierce blazes, and offering children the chance to sit in real emergency vehicles.
Police officers also spoke to visitors about life in the force and fighting crime.
Sports sessions were run by Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham United and Barnsley FC.
Peter Darling, chief executive of the police club, said: “We’re grateful for the support of various organisations. Without their help the day would not have been possible.”
