A MAN who fraudulently used his mother’s blue badge disabled parking permit has paid a heavy price.
Derek Donnelly was spotted using the badge at the Effingham Square car park in the town last July by a member of Rotherham Council’s Parking Services Team.
The 52-year-old, of Morcambe, Lancashire, pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of the blue badge at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court. He said he had used it while he was shopping and paying bills. He was fined £75 and ordered to pay £160 costs and a £15 surcharge.
Martin Beard, of Rotherham Council, said: “Fraudulent use of a blue badge infringes on the independence of people with genuine needs.”
