SHEFFIELD residents put an average of £487 on their credit cards buying Christmas presents last year, new figures have revealed.
The amount spent was nearly two and a half times more than any other month of the year, where around £195 is normally spent.
Research by CreditExpert found the average spent on credit cards during the festive season nationally was £432.69.
Topping the league table of credit card spenders were Newcastle residents, who spent an average of £754.03. Sheffielders came fifth in the table.
