HE’S JUST seven months old - and excited elf Lewis Butcher has already won his first competition!
This festive picture of the beaming baby scooped first prize in the kids category of The Star’s Christmas Cracker contest.
We were deluged with entries after asking people to send in their photographs of festively dressed youngsters, pets and decorated houses.
And a public vote chose three winners, including cute Lewis playing in a green, red and white outfit.
Proud mum Lynsey Reeves, of Woolley Wood Road in Shiregreen, said: “Lewis’ dad got an elf outfit that he’ll wear on Christmas Day so I had to get one for the baby.
“I was well chuffed to win and really proud of Lewis for doing so well.
“I voted for him loads of times and so did all my family as well.”
Winners scooped a £30 Boots voucher - plus a tasty tin of chocolates from Asda - to give them a little extra boost for Christmas.
Lynsey added: “Lewis is seven months old the day after Boxing Day, so I’m going to use the voucher to get him more presents.”
But Lewis was not alone in winning public affection and crucial readers’ votes.
Despite droves of festive photographs of dogs and cats being sent in, the winner of the pets category turned out to be a little less traditional.
Ronnie the budgie flew past the other entries to take home the prize.
The picture of him in his tinsel-decked cage was sent in by his owner Diane Cusack, of Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham.
Her daughter Joella, aged 19, said: “We didn’t expect him to win because there were lots of cats and dogs in there - it’s great a budgie won for a change!
“We couldn’t exactly dress him up so there’s tinsel round the cage instead.
“Mum will probably spend the vouchers on someone else like she always does!”
The winner of the decorated house prize was a picture of Kenzie Sneddon-Simpson, aged two, with her tree in Stradbroke.
