A CHARITY has asked the people of South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire to spare a little festive fare to help servicemen stationed overseas this Christmas.
Jo Hattersley, Sheffield coordinator of Support Our Soldiers, has appealed for local people to put together care parcels to send to soldiers, sailors and airmen based in places afar afield as the Falklands and Afghanistan.
The charity hopes to send out 12,000 packages from the UK this year. Items that servicemen would appreciate include chocolate, sweets, Christmas decorations, puzzles and toiletry items, as long as they all fit in a standard shoe box.
The deadline to make a donation or to send off your own care parcel is Saturday, November 12. Log on to www.supportoursoldiers.co.uk for more details.
