Fear for future of songbirds

SOUTH Yorkshire’s population of Starling songbirds has declined by 67 per cent over the last two decades, the RSPB has revealed.

The conservation organisation said the huge decline is ‘triggering concern about the bird’s future status as a widespread and familiar species’.

The RSPB has launched research to see why the bird’s population is in ‘freefall’.
