A RESIDENT has slammed Sheffield Council for failing to send maintenance men to check faulty street lights - two weeks after he first made a complaint.
David Wilson, of Wordsworth Avenue, Parson Cross, said he reported dozens of street lights on his street, plus nearby Milnrow Road and Adlington Road, had been on continuously day and night.
The 50-year-old security worker said: “It took me a few days to get around to reporting it - but that was a fortnight ago.
“I phoned them again last week and nothing has been done. The cost of keeping them on unnecessarily during the day is money that’s being thrown away.”
Sheffield Council told The Star it had ‘no record’ of Mr Wilson’s complaints but agreed to send an inspector to check the lights.
A spokesman said: “The inspector found a faulty control switch at Milnrow Road, which will be replaced and should rectify the problem.” The work was to be carried out yesterday.
