A GROUP of men who have dubbed themselves the ‘fat dads’ are saddling up for the challenge of a lifetime to support charities including Sheffield’s Neurocare appeal.

The six fathers aim to raise £60,000 in total for six different charities by cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in nine days this September.

Derbyshire businessmen Nigel Stubley, Philip Horsnall, Martin Speed, Mike Gerard-Pearse, Ian Heap and Peter Botham are covering all the costs themselves.

Nigel Stubley, who nominated Sheffield charity Neurocare as his chosen cause, said: “My objectives are to raise lots of money, get down to 80kgs, eat my own weight in flapjacks and, of course, cross the finish line.”
