The race numbers are coming fast off the printing presses – so have you signed up for The Star Walk 2013 yet?
We are appealing for as many local businesses as possible to get involved and back the event which is fundraising for the Women of Steel Statue Appeal.
This year’s Star Walk is unique in that it covers just one mile so everyone can join in whether they are aged 90 or nine.
It takes place in Hillsborough Park and gets under way at 11am on Sunday, April 28, and there will be entertainment for all the family.
Sheffield firm Fast Signs are doing their bit by offering to print all the race numbers free of charge.
Company director Paul Allison is pleased to be helping both The Star Walk and the Women of Steel Appeal.
He said: “It is a local cause and obviously close to everyone in Sheffield’s hearts. We try to get involved in local good causes and to me this is a very good cause.”
All money raised at The Star Walk 2013 will go to the appeal to build a statue for the Women of Steel outside Sheffield City Hall. Several of the women, now aged in their 80s and 90s, are determined to take part with support from their families.
They kept the steelworks producing during both world wars and helped arm their brothers, husbands and fathers on the front line.
If you are taking part in The Star Walk 2013 with colleagues, relatives, your sporting team or even school friends get in touch and let us know.
We are also looking for city firms interested in getting involved – email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit Women of Steel Star Walk to find out more.
