THE FAMILY of a Doncaster farmer have finished sprucing up his festive tractor after he died before finishing the job himself.

Peter Smith, aged 74, from Grangefield Crescent, Rossington, started fitting a Santa and reindeer to his old tractor – but died of a heart attack earlier this month before he finished it.

His granddaughter Cheryl Smith, aged 24, said his family had hoped to finshing kitting out the tractor so it would be ready when Peter got back from hospital.

She said his grandchildren had helped him make a Santa and and reindeer using wood and pillows.

The family wanted to make his wish come true by putting his work on show at his home.

Cheryl said: “He wanted everyone to be able to see it and I know it would mean so much to him if more people could appreciate his handiwork.”
