A CITY farm is aiming to cut waste this festive season with a Christmas tree for hire service.
The scheme, run by Heeley City Farm, is taking orders for this year’s lot ahead of the collection day on Saturday, December 8.
Customers return the trees in the new year, after which they are sent off to Wortley Hall Kitchen Garden to be cared for to be used again the following festive season.
The farm bought in new trees last year to cope with demand, but some still prefer to hire the old ones.
Sharon Claxton, farm supervisor said: “We cut down on waste by using the same, living trees again and again. Families get very attached to certain trees.”
Christmas wreaths made by adults with learning disabilities are also on sale.
