CHURCH leaders are preparing to say farewell next month to the Bishop of Doncaster, Cyril Ashton, at a service in Doncaster Minster.
Clergy from across the Diocese of Sheffield will be joined by a wide section of people representing the local community to share in a celebration of hymns, readings and music, at a service held on Wednesday, July 13, at 7.30pm.
The former Bishop of Sheffield, Jack Nicholls, who appointed Bishop Cyril as Bishop of Doncaster, will give the address.
He said: “This will be a good opportunity for many to say a public and very fond farewell to Cyril and his wife Muriel as they begin a new chapter in their lives and ministry. I know Bishop Cyril is looking forward to an active ministry as a retired bishop and so he will continue to preach.”
