A FANTASIST who set up a theatre company in Sheffield as part of a scam to claim more than £100,000 in VAT refunds has been locked up for six years.

Former Sheffield Polytechnic student Alison Reynolds, aged 48, stole the identities of 15 colleagues and friends and used a credit card in her mother’s name to set up companies all over the UK.

Cairns Nelson QC, prosecuting, said Reynolds set up Dreamweavers Theatre Company in Sheffield as a vehicle to commit fraud.

The judge also jailed Reynolds for a further 12 months consecutively for perverting the course of justice.
