“ONCE a Blade always a Blade” - that was the touching messsage from fans who paid more heartfelt tributes today to ex-Sheffield United legend Gary Speed, after his tragic death, aged 42.
He was found hanged in his Cheshire home on Sunday.
A steady steam of visitors put team colours aside to say their goodbyes, leaving flowers and shirts, teddies and cards, at Bramall Lane today.
“I was gutted - I shed a few tears about it” said Dean Lee, who laid a bouquet with a scarf tied round with partner Chloe Bentley and daughter Charlie Lee,two.
“I’ve followed the Blades for 35 years and Gary was just a top man.”
