BRIGHT pink, red and purple wigs are not the usual attire among the workers at a Sheffield engineering firm.

But the colourful fancy dress proved a hit to help raise charity cash.

Workers at Eldon Tool and Engineering Ltd, Brightside, held the wear a wig to work day for Weston Park Hospital’s Cancer Charity.

Over half the employees at the Don Road factory joined in the event, paying for the chance to don a comical wig for the day. Those who did not come up with a wig still donated towards the cause, and in total over £100 was raised.

General manager Stuart Smith said: “We were delighted that over £100 was raised and this gives a terrific kick-start to the company’s fund raising for Weston Park for the coming year.”
