A VAUXHALL Vectra was raised into the air at the Pegler Yorkshire factory in Balby, Doncaster, to boost Yorkshire Cancer Research.

The firm was challenged to use a two-inch long plumbing joint to suspend the 1.4 tonne car in mid-air in a ‘David and Goliath’ experiment.

Group managing director Stuart Anderson said: “I agree this is a particularly unusual way of testing although it will not only demonstrate the amazing strength of the product but will also enable us to give vital funds to a local charity.”

The charity thanked Peglers and Doncaster-based CF Booth Metals for the £400 donation.
