It’s been pretty quiet, considering the oft promised plans to bring in four players, writes Steve Walmsley.

I’m not sure I fancy seeing Miguel Llera and Kamil Zayatte together at centre half if we are hoping to keep clean sheets, so one of the four had to be there, with presumably central midfield and up-front among the others as those areas are still our glaring weaknesses. Martin Taylor’s reputation was good before he arrived, though we hadn’t seen him play, but it was obvious from the off that he was short of what is needed at Championship level and it’s no surprise he has gone to a League One club.

We now face a crunch game against Yeovil - it’s not a season-defining game, given the number of games left, but not winning would leave many questions to answer and a defeat would be unthinkable in terms of supporter confidence.

Gary Johnson’s outfit have nothing to lose, really, and all the pressure will be on us, so we really do need a good, high tempo start to try to get them on the back foot straight away.

The week has been dominated by World Cup campaigns and the raging debate about a summer or winter World Cup in Qatar.

The management of FIFA appears to be totally incompatible with its status as a multi-million pound world organisation. A political decision to take the World Cup to Qatar in the first place is now being further manipulated to try to get the rest of football to accept a winter World Cup and all the changes that will require to domestic and continental football schedules.

Unfortunately, given where we are, it’s either move it somewhere else (unlikely?) or accept sunny football on TV in the depths of winter.
