THE family of a Sheffield dad who was stabbed to death at his home in Batemoor have described him as a ‘dearly loved’ man who would be ‘greatly missed by all’.
Gary Beech, a father-of-two and grandfather-of-one, was found with fatal stab wounds in his ground floor flat on Batemoor Road, Batemoor, at 3.30pm last Friday.
Today his relatives issued a statement via South Yorkshire Police.
They said: “Gary was a dearly loved family member and will be greatly missed by all.
“His family including his son and daughter love him very much and are saddened that he will now not see his only grandson grow up.
“We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the friends and people in the local community for their assistance in the police investigation.”
A neighbour, who said he spoke regularly to Mr Beech, said he was originally from Preston but moved to Sheffield around two years ago.
The neighbour claimed Mr Beech had spent time living on the streets after his marriage had broken down.
He said: “Everyone is very upset about it.”

Benjamin Anthony Scott, 31, also of Batemoor Road, Batemoor, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Scott is also charged with two counts of theft from Mr Beech, possessing a blade, and charged with a robbery which took place in Victoria Street, Sheffield, in April.
Scott was remanded in custody and will appear for a further hearing at Sheffield Crown Court at a date to be fixed.
