THE family of a mum-of-three stabbed to death at her house in Sheffield have paid tribute to her as police issued a fresh appeal for witnesses.
Dawn Backhouse, aged 31, was found at her home on Langsett Grove, in Walkley, with serious stab injuries, and died on the way to hospital.
Two of Dawn’s children - a girl aged three and another daughter aged nine or 10 - were in the house when police arrived at 12.30am on Thursday.
Police also discovered a 44-year-old man inside the house, who had suffered a single stab wound to the chest.
The man was arrested on suspicion of murder before being taken to hospital, where his condition is still described as life-threatening.
In a statement, Dawn’s family said: “This is a tragic time for our family suffering the loss of a mother, daughter, granddaughter and sister. Dawn leaves behind three young children.
“She will forever be in our hearts and sorely missed.”
Det Supt Mick Mason said: “I urge anyone who has information regarding the death of Dawn Backhouse, or anyone who heard a disturbance within the area of 16 Langsett Grove at approximately 12.20am on Thursday, June 23, to contact the incident room.”
Anyone with information should call 0114 2963920 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
