A church is hosting a pop-up cafe next week for a series of special community events.

Cafe Encounter will be opened in a big marquee in the grounds of St Thomas’ Church on Highthorn Road in Kilnhurst.

The Rev Andy Brewerton said: “Here at St Thomas’ we love meeting new people and when we thought about how that could happen, a café seemed the obvious answer.

“We’re planning a fun-packed week of exciting activities, in and around our pop-up café.”

Cafe Encounter is set to become a community hub for a week of special events, with fun and games for all ages and all the family.

Among the events there will be a ladies’ ‘pots and puddings’ evening, a men’s barbecue and games night and a ‘Moose Party’ for primary school kids.

Rev Brewerton added: “We’re inviting the whole community to come and join us for a cuppa and to enjoy some time together.

“We’ll be offering a simple menu of freshly prepared meals, snacks and cakes at very reasonable prices. There’s even free wifi.”

The café will be open on Tuesday, May 13, to Saturday, May 17, from 9am to 4.30pm.

Tea, coffee, cakes and light lunches will be served.
