WE’VE had a beach, a funfair, a continental market and loads of other stuff.
But we’ve never had a village green in Sheffield city centre before - until now.
This month, a 20ft square green is to be installed on The Moor as the centrepiece for its annual Village Fete.
Sheffield-based company Hallam Horticultural has been tasked with installing the green for the free event on Sunday, September 25.
The Moor Village Fete will be awash with traditional family entertainment and attractions including Morris Men, a brass band, kiddie rides, coconut shy, hook-a-duck, face painter and more.
There’ll also be a chance to get up close and personal with owls, parrots, reptiles and rabbits. And there’s a 40th anniversary screening of the Sheffield film, City On The Move/The Reel Monty.
Lord Mayor Sylvia Dunkley, is guest of honour at the event from 11am to 4.30pm.
The Moor Village Fete kicks off autumn and winter events that include Fright Night’s Little Brother on October 30; Christmas Lights Switch On, on Sunday, November 20 and the Sheffield Blitz event on Sunday, December 11.
