A DAD and his two daughters had to jump from a bedroom window of their blazing home.
The man and teenage girls were woken by a smoke alarm and managed to get out of the house by jumping from a bedroom window on to the roof of an extension below.
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at the semi-detached house on Elm Close, Killamarsh, north Derbyshire, at 5.53am yesterday.
Crews from Staveley, Clowne, Chesterfield and Mosborough dealt with the incident, which involved some firefighters tackling the blaze from above while others used hose reel jets from outside.
Residents in the adjoining property were evacuated as a precaution when smoke seeped into their house but they were allowed back in once the fire was extinguished.
The father and his two daughters were treated for smoke inhalation before the man was taken to hospital for further treatment.
An investigation into the cause is under way.
