A couple and two children escaped unharmed after a fire broke out in a house in Rotherham in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze in Flanderwell Lane, Sunnyside, Rotherham, at 1.15am.

They found that a fire had broken out in a bedroom and believe a charger may have been to blame.

The couple who live there with their teenage daughter escaped along with a friend staying at the house.

Three fire engines responded to calls for help.
