A FAMILY whose cat was attacked believe someone superglued its tail to its eye.

Five-year-old moggy Charlie had to have her eye removed by a vet after disappearing for six days and returning home with a horrific injury.

Owner Michelle Pendlebury, 25, said that when the puss got home, fur from around Charlie’s eye had been pulled off.

Her partner, Paul Goss, 39, noticed superglue on the cat’s tail - and the couple say they think Charlie may have had her tail stuck to her eye and then ripped off.

Michelle, who is mum to one-year-old Madison, rushed black-and-white Charlie to the vet and her left eye was removed.

Michelle said: “I’m absolutely fuming. I’m disgusted that people could do this to a defenceless cat.

“Who gets some kind of enjoyment from torturing a cat like that? It’s very sinister.”

Charlie, who lives with Michelle’s mum Karen, 50, usually comes home every night but when she strayed for six days the family were worried.

Michelle, a restaurant worker, said: “Mum rang me and told me I’d better come round because there was something wrong with Charlie’s eye. Paul noticed she had superglue on her tail and it just clicked that someone had glued her tail to her eye and yanked it off.

“She was just lying down, dropping off to sleep occasionally. She was obviously exhausted, she’d been through a lot.”

Michelle reported the incident to the police who are investigating along with the RSPCA.

Michelle said: “Whoever is doing this is sick. You hear about psychopaths who started out torturing animals when they were younger, and this could be exactly the same.

“They need to be stopped.”
