Family and friends have paid tribute to a father of three with a ‘heart of gold’ who died following an attack in a South Yorkshire bar.
The 45-year-old man – named as Nick Bedford and known as ‘Beddy’ – was found unconscious after being assaulted in the Blue Room bar on Wellington Street, Barnsley.
A murder investigation has been launched.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 12.50am on Sunday.
The victim was rushed to hospital but could not be revived and detectives launched a murder probe.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder following an assault in Barnsley town centre.
“Officers were called to Wellington Street at around 12.50am today, to reports that a 45-year-old man was unconscious following an assault inside the Blue Room bar.
“The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.”
Spokesman said officers were at the scene yesterday and confirmed a murder investigation had been launched.
