HEATING and hot water have been restored to families after six days of shivering.
Sheffield Homes contractors worked through Thursday night to repair a burst underground pipe affecting homes on the Coleridge estate, Darnall, since their community heating system went down on Friday, December 23.
The residents relied on heaters for warmth and boiling kettles to wash over Christmas.
Mum Elaine Jackson, of Coleridge Gardens, said: “It is a massive relief. Now my son Calum can play without complaining of the cold.”
Sheffield Homes gave out heaters to residents and worked over Christmas to find a specialist contractor to dig up the road. Yesterday staff checked homes on the estate.
Janet Sharp, assistant director for investment, said: “The team worked really hard overnight to resolve this.”
