FOUR South Yorkshire parliamentary constituencies are among the 10 worst areas of the Yorkshire for having households in ‘fuel poverty’.
The definition applies to households spending more than 10 per cent of income on heating.
Labour leader Ed Miliband’s Doncaster North constituency has 8,659 households in fuel poverty, or 21pc. In Doncaster Central, represented by Rosie Winterton, 9,123 or 20.8 pc of homes are fuel poor.
David Blunkett’s Brightside and Hillsborough has 20.7pc, or 8,989 families in the category, and Barnsley East, represented by Michael Dugher, has 7,779 households in fuel poverty, or 20.6pc.
The statistics are from the Energy Bill Revolution, which is calling for more Government help to insulate homes.
