A new Fairtrade shop has opened in the Sheffield suburb of Broomhill – just in time for Fairtrade fortnight.
Fair Grounds has set up shop in a former off licence on Whitham Road. It will sell goods including food, drinks, jewellery, cards, home furnishings and children’s toys.
Volunteer director Ian Carter-Brown said: “Fair Grounds campaigns for a change to unfair trading practices. It also provides people with the chance to buy things knowing they have not been made through exploitation of other humans, and knowing they are positively making a difference in someone’s life through their purchase.”
The store will be run by volunteers from across Sheffield, all of whom are passionate about Fairtrade principles.
During Fairtrade fortnight, which runs to March 9, the shop will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm. From March 11 the shop will be open Tuesday to Saturday.
