I have just been watching a programme about the air ambulance service and the people who are involved with it.
One incident was about a bloke doing thee xtreme sport of “canyoning” which involves jumping into mountain rivers from a height and letting the flow take you downstream.
It’s absolutely stupid and as anyone in their right mind would think, the inevitable happened.
The person that jumped got injured and the air ambulance had to be called out. The medics attending put their own lives at risk to treat the injured person with little thought for their own safety.
Now what I can’t understand is, why these “sportsmen” don’t have to take out insurance to help cover the cost.
Many people support the service with donations, fundraising and many other things to raise money for the service.
Any extreme sport should be made to include insurance.
