EXCLUSIVE: Arctic Monkeys struck by lightning
CRYING Lightning is the new lead single from the Arctic Monkeys – but they had a brush with real lightning on the way to their European outdoor dates this summer.
Singer Alex Turner, during an exclusive chat with The Star in Serbia, revealed: "We got struck by lightning near Hanover in the bus.
"And the bus broke down.
"We had a nightmare journey getting out here.. but we've forgotten about it now."
The build up to the third Arctic Monkeys record, Humbug, has arguably overshadowed even the arrival of U2's colossal stadium tour to the UK.
But, as ever, the lads – catapulted from pub favourites to major festival headline act in a few short years – are taking it in their stride.
Humbug comes two years after Favourite Worst Nightmare and singer Alex Turner admits the time away maybe did everyone some good.
While his band mates reclaimed some of their old life, he enjoyed success with the Scott Walker-influenced collaborative band The Last Shadow Puppets, playing a sold-out show at Sheffield City Hall.
"It was just good to have a break – not only for us but to let everyone breathe a bit," says the singer.
"I think we needed to calculate this album a bit more – take a bit more time with it."
