FORMER Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley footballer Nile Ranger has been arrested and charged with criminal damage.
Police were called to a house in Enfield, north London, in the early hours of Sunday. after a report of a disturbance.
Scotland Yard said officers arrived at the scene to find the front door of the property badly damaged.
Ranger, aged 21, a striker for Premier League club Newcastle United, was arrested at the scene and was taken to a north-east London police station.
He appeared at Enfield Magistrates’ Court yesterday, where he was released on bail.
Ranger was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last year and scored two goals, including the second in their 2-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers on the final day of last season.
He made eight appearances in total for the Owls, after joining on loan in March until the end of last season, helping the club secure promotion from League One into the Championship.
The former England under-19 international also made five appearances for Barnsley in 2011, after joining the club on loan for a month.
