ThE Six Jolly Miners Sword Dancers are hosting a coffee morning tomorrow - exactly 150 years after an explosion at Westwood Colliery in which six local miners died.
It is at Ecclesfield Parish Council’s community room, Packhorse Lane, High Green, between 10am and 1pm.
There will be a display of information connected to the explosion and miners killed, and the Six Jolly Miners’ archivist will be on hand to help with family ancestry-related questions.
There have been a series of commemorative events in High Green to mark the anniversary of the explosion, including the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
Money raised at the coffee morning will help fund work to highlight the industrial heritage of the Ecclesfield Parish Council area.
Some money will also go to Macmillan Cancer Support.
