ROBERT Hodkin is training for the challenge of his life.
The 46-year-old from Wincobank plans to run 90 miles from Sheffield to Skegness for Weston Park Cancer Charity.
“I’m a bit nervous but very excited,” said the photographic printer, dad to Carl, 22, and Lois, eight. “It’s a long way, but training is going well so far – I’m just building up the miles.
“I recently lost my sister-in-law, Angela Kay, to breast cancer. She was just 43 and left two small children.
“I’ve also lost my father-in-law to cancer and have had many friends affected by the disease.”
Rob, who is married to Joanne, 39, added: “I think the work Weston Park does is brilliant.
“Staff at the hospital are very professional. I want to do my little bit to help them.”
Rob plans to run the distance over three days in June and is aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity.
“I’ve run marathons and half marathons before, but never anything like this,” he said.
He is also planning a fundraising night at the Wincobank and Blackburn Conservative Club.
